Root Canals
If you have severe pain or swelling of the face, you may have a tooth requiring a root canal. Even if one of your teeth has become injured or decayed, it can often be saved through this specialized dental procedure.
What is a Root Canal?
Root canal treatment involves the removal of dead or damaged nerve tissue (pulp) from within the interior of the tooth. Once the pulp has been removed, it is replaced with a sealant material that closes off the tooth’s canals from the surrounding tissues thereby preventing them from becoming infected or causing a painful or swollen abscess. Not having to remove the infected tooth means that the surrounding teeth will not shift from their normal position. Replacing missing teeth is more expensive than root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment. A root canal procedure can usually be completed in just one visit to Madison Smile.
Please see the Specialists page on this site for more information about this kind of dentistry and about the varied services offered by Dr. Wayne Silverstein and the other dentists at Madison Smile.
